The Sindbad Arcade was once the one of the only fun-filled place for toddlers and teenagers in the city of Karachi.  Situated by the famous Sea View Beach, it was the perfect hangout for families and friends with a large area dedicated to arcade games. Whether a good day out with the family or booking certain areas for birthday parties, Sindbad was one place no one could get enough of until it randomly shut down nearly 10 years ago for unknown reasons and the building was razed to the ground.

The Dolmen City Mall was constructed in its place and now Sindbad has reopened as a part of the mall completing the perfect circle of entertainment in Karachi.

The inauguration was held at the Dolmen Mall on December 20, 2012 with an opening concert organised by The Neem Tree School of Music.

The concert encouraged children from the ages of 18 months to 16 years to come together and experience an evening of fun and excitement, with a perfect blend of different tunes, beats and vocals before the arcade mania could catch on.

The event was attended by approximately 400 people and the evening was filled with joy for the children along with loud cheers from the audience.

The Dolmen City Mall has been one of the grand effects for diversion to happen to Karachiites in a very long time. It features several foreign and local brands under one roof with all the food, shopping luxuries and bare necessities at one’s disposal.

Now with the opening of Sindbad, it is not only the foodstuff and the shopping engaging the children but the parents can in fact shop till they drop while the children can spend hours in Sindbad’s play areas. — Photos and Text by Shameen Khan/Dawn.com
