KARACHI: Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakharuddin G. Ibrahim on Thursday said that the order of Supreme Court, in connection with the verification of voter lists and delimitation of constituencies in Karachi, will be implemented in letter and spirit.

This was stated by the CEC in separate meetings with representatives of different political and religious parties at the provincial election commission office.

The delegations, which met Ibrahim include Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Awami National Party (ANP), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).

The CEC said the election commission has started preparing a strategy in the light of the Supreme Court's decisions regarding verification of voters' lists and delimitation of different constituencies. He hoped that the work in this regard will be started next week.

Ibrahim also assured the representatives that each and every step will be taken for holding free, fair and impartial general elections in the country and no one will be allowed to violate the code of conduct in this regard.

The representatives of political and religious parties also put forward various suggestions for making transparent and error free voters' lists.
