LAHORE, Dec 3: Capital City Police Officer Aslam Tareen and Operations DIG Tahir Rai on Monday visited Qadhafi Stadium to check security arrangements for T20 cricket matches.

A press release issued on Monday said both the senior officials visited the site following a security alert due to a threatening information and inspected security arrangements at entry and exit points of the stadium.

On the occasion, the CCPO directed the DIG to enhance security at the stadium by deploying an additional force of 300 policemen. He directed him to ensure three-layer security strategy at all entry and exit points and physical search of the visitors through metal detectors and walkthrough gates.

He further directed that no vehicle should be allowed to the parking point designated for visitors at the stadium without search. Aslam Tareen also inspected security arrangements at the rooftop of the stadium and directed the DIG to depute 10 more snipers at different points of the roof.

Giving a briefing to the CCPO, Tahir Rai said 200 commandos in plainclothes were performing duties at all entry gates and inside the stadium to foil nefarious designs of anti-social elements. — Staff Reporter
