Developed societies have a large number of libraries. This is the age of information and so we should re-define the role of information, knowledge, etc.

In old days libraries were important because they were about reading. They were often built as cultural statements, rather than as useful and accessible places of reading. In some cases, the size and architecture mattered more than the function of the library.

With the passage of time, the trend has changed. Libraries are increasingly more important for more sophisticated learning and education. Societies that develop good libraries are also progressive.

We need to emphasise the need of good libraries to change mindsets.
