LAHORE, Nov 20: Two persons were shot dead by their rivals at Batapur on Tuesday.

The police said armed men of Dogar group shot dead their rivals, Azeem and Ahmad, near Jallo Park and fled. Cantonment Division SP (Operations) Maroof Safdar Wahla said Dogar and Ahmad groups had developed enmity over “power tussle” in the area.

Quoting family of the victims, he said Dogar’s men killed their two rivals on Tuesday over the same issue. Earlier, he said Ahmad group had killed two men of the Dogar group.

The SP said the bodies had been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy. The police registered a case against the alleged killers with no arrest so far.

FIRE: Valuables including furniture were reduced to ashes when a fire erupted in a chemical factory at Sherakot on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 said according to initial investigation the chemical factory caught fire due to a short circuit, which later spread through flammable material stored in some rooms and basement.

However, they said the firefighting squad of the Rescue 1122 timely reached the venue and controlled the fire. The loss was yet to be estimated, the officials said.
