QUETTA: The Balochistan government, in compliance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan's directives, increased compensation amount being paid to the victims of terrorism from Rs 0.4 million to the tune of Rs 1 million.

The heirs, of those whose mutilated dead bodies were found in the province, will also receive the same amount, while compensation amount paid to the injured of subversive acts has been doubled from Rs 100,000.

The advisory committee, formed for reviewing transparency in the appointments in the provincial government, has also decided to be abolished.

These decisions were taken by the provincial cabinet meeting held with Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani in chair on Tuesday.

The three-member bench of the apex court, during its hearing on Balochistan law and order case, directed the provincial government to enhance the amount paid to the victims of terror incidents and families of those who received mutilated dead bodies of their dear ones.

Raisani-led cabinet meeting taking unanimous decision, approved Rs 1 million amount as compensation to the victims and Rs 0.2 million to the injured.

While strictly following the merit, areas and quota allocated for the disabled in the provincial departments, meeting directed the officials concerned to make new appointments on the previous pattern.

The meeting also approved one month extension of the police powers to Frontier Corps (FC) to maintain peace in Quetta.

Moreover, the chief minister, taking notice of the Airport Road blast, sought report from the home department.
