LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML – N) President Mian Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that the present economic conditions of Pakistan are a consequence of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s nationalisation policies, DawnNews reported.
Sharif said that were it not for these policies, Pakistan would have been a highly prosperous country today.
The PML-N chief was speaking at an event held at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore to mark the Punjab government’s internship programme and laptop distribution scheme for the youth.
While speaking at the event, he said that if nothing was done to save the country from its present crises, then their future generations would never forgive them.
Sharif also warned the students about elements who were “out to misinform” the youth and advised them not to be misguided and deceived by anyone. He also added that the youth of Pakistan would improve the conditions of the country.
He added that the same elements had attempted to hinder the laptop distribution scheme but had been unsuccessful in doing so, adding that more laptops had been distributed than before.
He further said that the current government had brought about the problems of loadshedding, unemployment, terrorism and many other similar problems upon the Pakistani public. He said that everyone should unite in improving the country’s conditions.
During the event, talented children were awarded with the Guard of Honour. Sharif added that these children were the truly deserving of the award but it had always been given to those who violated the judiciary, the Constitution and the legislative assemblies.
