LAHORE, Nov 10: The Punjab Environment Tribunal on Saturday issued notices to Nespak, Tepa and the Metro Bus System project director on a petition challenging construction of a flyover from Kalma Chowk to Data Darbar.

Eco Green Society Chairman Akhtar H. Awan filed a petition and contended that the Punjab government started construction of the flyover without getting no-objection certificates from the Environment Department.

He said the government neither got an environment impact survey of the project location nor gathered expert opinion before initiating the project.

The petitioner said the government ignored many legal requirements which were necessary to be fulfilled before the construction of the flyover, the part of the MBS project.

The tribunal sought replies from the respondents within a week.
