NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Nov 9: The Sukkur police have declared 40 out of the total 129 polling stations sensitive and made arrangements for ensuring peaceful by-election in the PS-21 Naushahro Feroze constituency, where polling is to be held on Nov 17.

Speaking at a press conference, Sukkur DIG Ameer Ali Shaikh said that 5,000 policemen and 700 Rangers personnel would be deployed across the constituency. At each of the 40 sensitive polling stations, 10 Rangers personnel and 25 policemen would be posted to meet any eventuality, he added.

The PS-21 seat of the Sindh Assembly had fallen vacant after Dr Ahmed Ali Shah was disqualified to hold the seat for having dual nationality.

The DIG said that prompt action would be taken against anyone found involved in rigging or criminal activity.

On Thursday, candidates were told that 129 polling stations, 325 booths and three tent booths were being set up for the polling.
