The communiqué said: “At the invitation of the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister of the Federation of Malaya, Tengku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, accompanied by Puan Sharifah Rodziah, visited Pakistan from 10th October to 21st October, 1962.
“…Tengku Abdul Rahman and the President of Pakistan held talks and discussed the world situation, matters of mutual interest in the field of trade, commerce, industry, exchange of scholars and savants....
“In the field of cultural relations, the two leaders noted with approval that scholarships were awarded annually by Pakistan to the Federation of Malaya and decided to direct special attention to an increase in these scholarships to the exchange of scholars and teachers, and to the closest collaboration in all academic fields…”
Tengku Abdul Rahman renewed the invitation to President Ayub Khan to visit Malaya. The President expressed deep regret that he had not been able to visit Malaya earlier and hoped that it would be possible to do so by the end of the year or early next year. — Agencies
250 councillors to attend Muslim League meeting
DACCA: More than 250 Councillors and 1,000 old Muslim League workers will attend the Muslim League Council meeting here on Oct 27, sources close to the Council told reporters yesterday.
About 120 Councillors from West Pakistan have already expressed their willingness to attend it, while the district and sub-divisional Muslim League units of East Pakistan have sent the lists of the veteran Muslim Leaguers who would participate in the meeting as observers and discuss with their respective councillors about the organisation. — Agencies
