Heroine, hit or miss?

(L-R) Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor from the poster of the film "Heroine".

Being the most anticipated movie of year, Heroine, seems to have failed to leave an impression on audiences if the weekend collections are anything to go by. According to statistics available on the TOI, the Kareena Kapoor-starrer has bagged approximately Rs. 25 crore.

“People expected it to be like The Dirty Picture, but it is not. It’s a very boring Fashion part 2,” says trade analyst Amod Mehra.

Nonetheless the reviews and response to the film has been pretty mixed and thereby there hasn't been a distinct rise in the business as expected.

However Taran Adrash has different opinion. “Watch HEROINE for Madhur's imposing direction, for Kareena's superlative performance, watch it also for its fearless, inspiring and enlightening storyline divulging the scandalous realities of the movie industry. Try not to miss it!”

Dawn! What is this rubbish? Please check your report once again It is INR 25 crore (US$4.53 million)(4 days domestic nett) Overseas INR 7.72 crore (US$1.4 million). Total: 32.72 Crore(4 Day collection) Fyi the movie budget was mere INR 32 crore (US$5.79 million) hence I think any normal person can understand if it is hit or miss.....Got it? If you want to check you may even visit Wikipedia too. Kindly do go through proper background check before reporting anything.......very unprofessional

It is so terribly sad that Dawn chooses to ignore artists from Pakistan and instead showcases Indian arts which to me are high on fashion and low on substance. This is journalism with out merit.

The film is definitely worth a watch. Kareena's acting, particularly scenes where she is refused adoption of a child as a maverick single parent, and her foray as an actress into parallel serious cinema which becomes a washout, are particularly good. Trademark Madhur Bhandarkar.
