LAHORE, Sept 11: Pakistan Muslim League-N president Nawaz Sharif has said that he sees President Asif Zardari’s “mischief” behind the controversial Sindh local government ordinance that has divided political opinion in the province.
“Zardari has done the mischief at a time when hardly six months are left in completion of the government’s term. It means there is definitely some trick behind the idea,” Mr Sharif said while talking to journalists after speaking at a ceremony at Netsol, an IT company, here on Tuesday.
He said the government should have taken the whole country on board before promulgating the ordinance as the law had divided even the people of Sindh.
Answering a question about engaging the MQM after its chief Altaf Hussain’s recent statement against the PML-N, he said it was the MQM that had sought a meeting with his party leaders. But no more talks would be held with the MQM after the statement.
Asked if his party would engage other partners of the coalition government like the ANP after they developed differences with the PPP on the local government ordinance, he said so far no contact had been made with the ANP.
