As always this year’s Independence Day programmes ran by all the TV channels left much to be desired. Some of them were loud and overzealously done and some didn’t have any substantial content whatsoever.
The only show that impressed the most was an episodic play titled Jashna Ka Din Hai, directed by Khalid Ahmed. The drama nicely touched on the issues our society has been plagued with for long with some nice performances by actors Badar Khalil, Qazi Wajid and Suhaee Abro. The original soundtrack of the play, beautifully sung by Nadir Abbas, gelled well with the theme. However, the actor who was cast in the role of the male protagonist (a man of principles) was painfully understated, which affected the pace of the play.
Still, Jashna Ka Din Hai, on the whole, was a nice effort.
