LAHORE, Aug 19: Eid holidays will be rainy days in Punjab cities from Lahore to Islamabad, and upper parts of the country, forecasts the Pakistan Meteorological Department on Sunday.

The Met department had on Saturday forecast widespread rain with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in these areas from Monday to Wednesday.

On Sunday, it reported reduction in the monsoon intensity but still saw rain in these areas during the three Eid holidays because of the monsoon low from the Bay of Bengal and an approaching westerly wave.

It forecast scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy showers over Kashmir and north and northeast Punjab. Isolated thunderstorm/rain was also likely to occur over southern Punjab.

The cities that will receive rain include Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Abbottabad, Haripur, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Rawlakot, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Mirpur.

Meanwhile, it remained partly cloudy but hot and humid in Lahore and almost all other cities in Punjab.

The maximum temperature in the city was 37.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum 28.5 degrees Celsius with 85 per cent humidity in the morning and 58 per cent in the evening.
