KHAR, Aug 19: Local residents complained of profiteering by shopkeepers on the first day of Eidul Fitr on Sunday.

Khalid Khan, a resident of Sadiqabad area, said prices of fruits, vegetables, chicken and other kitchen items had shot up after the administration ignored shopkeepers not following official rate list.

Tariq Khan, local social worker, said there wan no check on prices in our area.

“The local administration and the levies force personnel have connived with shopkeepers,” he said.

When contacted, senior administration official Abdul Haseeb Khan said he had received complaints of profiteering and would act against the culpable shopkeepers.

“We are aware of the people’s misery and will be cracking down on profiteering shortly,” he said.
