LAHORE, Aug 13: Attorney General Irfan Qadir says the Supreme Court should create an environment wherein confrontation between state institutions could be avoided.

He said the executive respected the judiciary, therefore, the judiciary should also reciprocate the same. Although under the Constitution the prime minister was not answerable to any court, he added.

The attorney general was talking to reporters on Monday after holding a meeting with deputy attorney generals and counsels of federal government at attorney general office in Lahore High Court. During the meeting, Mr Qadir discussed cases against the federation pending with the LHC.

The AG was of the view that contempt of court case against the PM and review petition against striking down of new contempt of court law were similar cases and should be heard jointly.
