KARACHI, Aug 13: The consuls general of China, Japan and South Korea have expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation at a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
The CGs, who met the chief minister here on Aug 10, said the incidents in which their nationals were targeted in Karachi were: 10 for China, 10 for Japan and 11 for South Korea.
They regretted that only three of the 31 cases had been resolved, says a press release issued here on Monday by the media adviser to the consulate general of Japan.
Many of the incidents took place on the National Highway, in Clifton, Defence Housing Authority and the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate.
They requested the Sindh government to take effective measures, such as frequent patrolling by police on the National Highway and visible presence of police officers at major crime spots.
Japan consul general Masaharu Sato, Korean consul general In-ki Lee and acting Chinese consul general Pan Qingjiang told the chief minister that improvement of the law and order situation was the key to development of Pakistan. Particularly, vibrant economy and tourism in peaceful environment would attract investors, tourists from all over the world and bring huge benefits to Pakistan’s economy and the government, the press release said.—PPI
