KARACHI, Aug 9: A judicial magistrate reissued on Thursday warrants for the arrest of two leaders of the banned People’s Aman Committee and an alleged member of the proscribed Baloch Liberation Army in explosive and illicit weapons cases.

The court has been issuing non-bailable warrants for PAC head Uzairjan Baloch, Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla and Rehmatullah of the BLA for a couple of months. However, the police have yet to arrest them.

When the matter was taken up for hearing before a judicial magistrate (west) on Thursday, the investigating officer again informed the court that the suspects had not been traced.

The court reissued the warrants with the direction to apprehend and produce them before Aug 28.

The crime investigation department claimed that it detained Saifullah Bugti, Shamsuddin Bugti and Abdul Ghaffar Bugti, alleged BLA militants, in Shershah on May 7 and seized explosive material and illicit weapons from them.

The suspects were charged and PAC leaders were named as absconders on the basis of confessional statements of Saifullah and Abdul Ghaffar, who told a magistrate that Rehmatullah had been supplying arms and ammunition to them from Balochistan for long which they delivered to Noor Mohammad and Uzair Baloch.

A case was registered against the suspects under Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act, and the CID has individually booked the suspects under Section 13-D of the Arms Ordinance.

Release of 10 prisoners ordered

A district and sessions judge accompanied by four judicial magistrates visited the central prison on Thursday and ordered the release of 10 prisoners.

On a directive of the chief justice of the Sindh High Court asking them to visit prisons and get prisoners involved in minor offences or those unable to pay fines or sureties released before Eid, district and sessions judge (south) Hasan Feroz and the magistrates visited the central prison. They ordered the release of six prisoners who had served their prison terms, reduced the sureties of two others and ordered their release also.

They directed the jail management to set four other prisoners free as their sureties had been submitted by a philanthropist.

The district and sessions judge also received applications of around 40 undertrial prisoners seeking reduction of surety amounts and directed the magistrates concerned to decide them within two days.
