ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Thursday summoned the records of the cases registered against prisoners recovered from the Adiala jail. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said if these prisoners were involved in the attack on a three-star General then the authorities should present evidence against them or else release them, DawnNews reported.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the case pertaining to the recovered prisoners of the Adiala Jail.

Chief Justice said to the agencies’ attorney Raja Irshad that as he had already admitted that this case could not be proceeded according to the Army act so he should present evidence against these prisoners in the apex court.

Chief Justice Chaudhry said that these prisoners should have been releases if there was not sufficient evidence against them.

The hearing of the case was adjourned for three weeks.
