ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: The overall export of sports goods rose by 0.47 per cent to $331.542 million during 2011-12 against $329.999 million recorded during previous year 2010-11, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported on Monday.

Footballs contributed a major share as its exports increased by 8.13 per cent by going up from $143.403 million to $155.060 million during the year.

However, the exports of gloves decreased from $123.650 million to $112.214 million, registering negative growth of 9.25 per cent.

Exports of all other sports goods witnessed increase of 2.10 per cent by growing from $62.946 million to $64.267 million, the data revealed. Meanwhile, the exports of sports good during June 2012 decreased by 19.57pc and 7.20 per cent when compared to the exports of June 2011 and May 2012 respectively.

The sports good during June 2012 stood at $29.336 million against the exports of $36.475 million in June 2011 and $31.613m in May 2012, the PBS data revealed.—APP
