LAHORE, Augt 3: Raiwind City police claimed to have arrested three suspects who had kidnapped a 12-year-old boy for ransom. The police also recovered Abdul Manan and ransom money of Rs300,000 from the accused.

Reports said Sadar Investigation SP Liaqat Ali Malik had constituted a team headed by Raiwind Circle DSP Malik Manzoor shortly after the accused kidnapped the boy on June 22 when he was playing outside his house in City Raiwind area. The accused had demanded Rs500,000 for his safe release.

During negotiations, the family handed over Rs300,000 to the accused and promised to give rest of the amount later.

Meanwhile, the police traced and arrested the accused who were identified as Jehangir, Nasir and Faisal.

shot dead: : A property dealer was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists in Hanjarwal on Friday.

Reports said Qari Iqbal of Amina Park was returning home when two motorcyclists shot at and injured him. Iqbal was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police said Iqbal had a money dispute with some area people. The investigation were under way to reach the culprits involved in his murder, the police said adding the body had been sent to the city morgue for an autopsy.

STABBED TO DEATH: A 25-year-old youth was stabbed to death allegedly by his friend over a minor issue in Madina Colony on Friday.

Factory Area police said Asif was residing along with his friends -- Waseem, Azeem and Abdul Jabbar -- in a rented house. Asif and Jabbar exchanged hot words with each other over a petty issue of keeping household items in the room. Furious Jabbar later killed Asif and fled the scene.

FOUND DEAD: A 40-year-old man was found dead in Muhammadpura on Friday.

Wahdat Colony police said Riaz left his house on Thursday and did not return home. On Friday, his body was found some hundred yards away from his house. The police said unidentified people tortured him to death and threw his body near his house.

Quoting initial investigation, the police said Riaz was not enjoying good repute in the area and might have been killed by some criminals.

In another incident, a man was found dead in his house in Gujjarpura.

According to the police, Rehmanullah had been living alone in his house in Begumpura as his wife had left him some four years ago over a family dispute. The neighbours alerted the police when they noticed bad smell emitting from the house.

Some of his relatives suspected that he was poisoned by unidentified people. The police sent his body to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
