Opportunity for all

THIS is apropos of the article ‘The disappearing poor’ (July 29) by Asif Saeed Memon. The article is a good analysis of the poor conditions prevailing in this part of the world. It concluded aptly that tackling poverty is about creating access and opportunity for all.

Indeed, poverty cannot be reduced without creating an atmosphere of equal opportunity.

One advantage to crime is that it is an equal opportunity business. If people are poor enough and smart enough they can do well at it.
