ISLAMABAD, August 1: Capital Development Authority (CDA) during a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat admitted that agreement between CDA and management of Bahria Town (BT) was made due to which residents of Bahria Enclave will use the road of Park Enclave. Excuse for the agreement was made that everyone has right of access.

The committee instructed CDA to resolve the issue of water supply in the federal capital on a war footing.

Meeting was chaired by Senator Kulsoom Parveen on Wednesday in which issues of Park Enclave, Kuri Model Village and Government Officers Cooperative Housing Society were also discussed.

Director General Planning CDA, Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu informed the committee that CDA has not allotted the land of Kuri Model Village to BT for the road. Infact, the road has been constructed after an agreement with BT due to which in response BT has also constructed a road from Bahria Enclave to Kuri Model Village, measuring 3.5 km and another road measuring 1.5 km in Kuri village.

It is worth mentioning that after launch of Park Enclave by CDA, BT also announced Bahria Enclave in June 2011. The only difference between both projects was access to road, due to which CDA demanded almost double the money.

But later CDA allowed BT to use the road of Park Enclave due to which the only difference between both schemes was finished and almost 130 plots of CDA (worth Rs 1.5 billion) could not be sold.

Senator Kulsoom Parveen said: “Project has been delayed by 20 years and even now some elements have been using delay tactics.”

The committee instructed Chairman CDA, Farkhand Iqbal to resolve the issue of water because residents of Islamabad have been complaining and protesting against unavailability of water.

The committee said that if CDA had resolved the issue of water pipeline from Shah Allah Ditta on time, there would be no problem of water in the city. Issue of Shah Allah Ditta is pending since last 15 years but CDA is not willing to resolve it.

Senator Kulsoom Parveen instructed CDA to solve the problem and intimate the committee about it because the committee is even ready to meet President and Prime Minister for addressing the issue.

Chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal said that recently Pakistan and China have signed an agreement due to which Islamabad will get 200 MGD water from different dams.

While briefing the committee about Government Officers Cooperative Housing Society, Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed told the committee that the land of the society is 530 kanals and plots measure 10 Kanal and 20 kanal. There are 44 members in the society.

He said that the price of 10 and 20 kanal plots was Rs460,000 and Rs920,000, respectively. Rs200,000 and Rs400,000 were demanded by the management of the society for the development work of 10 and 20 kanal plots.

The committee instructed deputy commissioner (DC) to complete the work of the society, which has been delayed by 20 years.

The committee further ordered the DC to withdraw the powers of the administrator of the society and assure elections after Eidul Fitar. The committee instructed to take action against the persons who were responsible for the delay.

Chairman CDA said that Margalla Avenue will be constructed along with the hills till sector C-12. He also told the committee that in sector I-16 some armed persons occupied the land of CDA and it has become difficult to vacate land from them.

Due to which construction has also been delayed. He said that negotiation with those persons is going on.
