MANSEHRA, July 21: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA Capt (retired) Mohammad Safdar has said that Amir Muqam would be appointed provincial president of the party, as the party leadership from Manshera continues to indulge in war of words.
“We are left with no other option but to remove Pir Sabir Shah from his position and appoint Amir Muqam as provincial president,” said Mr Safdar while speaking at a youth convention here the other day.
The war of words started earlier this week when office-bearers, including Mansehra district president Aslam Khan, threatened to resign in protest against what they termed dictatorial attitude of Mr Safdar. “We have given sacrifices during Pervez Musharraf regime and now Mr Safdar is destroying the party through his unjustified interference in party affairs,” said Mr Khan while speaking at a party meeting.
The office-bearers not happy with Mr Safdar’s attitude, however, withdrew their threat to resign after Mr Abbasi and Mr Shah rushed to Mansehra and assured them of addressing their grievances.
The visit of the two senior leaders angered Mr Safdar, who openly dubbed them as Mir Sadiq and Mir Jaffar (betrayers) of the party. Aslam Khan Baffa, PML-N Mansehra president, later also alleged during a public gathering in the presence of Mr Abbasi and Mr Shah that Mr Safdar had no political vision and destroying the party.
“Mr Safdar has no political vision and destroying the party because of his dictatorial attitude and without Nawaz Sharif’s support he could not even win a local body election,” alleged Mr Baffa.
