ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has spoken to former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and congratulated him on the election victory of his son Abdul Qadir Gilani.

The prime minister said that all the anti-PPP forces were supporting the opposition candidate but the winning of the PPP candidate speak volumes about the support of the masses for the Pakistan Peoples Party.

The prime minister said that the election in NA-151 is also manifestation of a free, fair and transparent election which was a good omen for democracy and for the forthcoming general elections.

The prime minister said that the PPP firmly believes in the democratic process and would take every possible measure to strengthen it.
