LAHORE, July 4: A Lahore High Court division bench granted on Wednesday protective bail till July 6 to four accused persons involved in sessions court’s judicial lock-up murder case.

Accused Ghulam Haider and three others submitted through their counsel that they had no role in the incident occurred inside the judicial lock-up of the sessions court.

They said they had only gone there to meet some under-trial prisoners, but the police with a mala fide intention and to save their skin implicated them in the case.

They expressed apprehension that the police might arrest them despite having evidence and requested the court to grant them protective bail. The bench granted them bail till July 6.

A prisoner, Azam, had on June 30 gunned down another prisoner, Shafqat, in the judicial lock-up. The police took action and killed the attacker too.

Two FIRs were registered of the incident — one against the policemen and the other against private persons. — Staff Reporter
