The largest telescope in the world

Telescopes are fascinating devices that let you see far off in the sky. Recently, plans were approved for  the world’s biggest telescope! The European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT), as it will be known, is due for completion in 2022, and it will have a main mirror spanning 39 metres, making it the largest optical telescope in the world.

The E-ELT will be powerful enough to obtain direct images of planets in orbit around distant stars — perhaps even Earth-like worlds. It will also allow astronomers to study the first galaxies that formed after the Big Bang.

The decision was taken by the ruling Council of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), an international collaboration of 15 member states, but it still has to be ratified by four other members, including the UK. Work on the telescope on top of the Cerro Amazons Mountain, in northern Chile, is scheduled to begin later this year.

A new feature of iphone

There have been many rumours about the new features and specs of the upcoming iPhone 5; the latest is that the next-gen iPhone will have a new feature called AirDrop. This feature is currently being used in Mac OS X Lion, according to a report.

This new app lets you send files wirelessly to anyone around you without any required setup or special settings. You can share a file by dragging it to your address book, and once accepted, the file is downloaded directly to your contact’s download folder.

Moreover, AirDrop doesn’t require users to be on the same WiFi network. One just has to be near your iOS device. The feature is helpful for those working on the documents together in offices or on assignments in the schools.

Bieber rocks in Mexico

Many of you are in love with Justin Bieber for his looks or for his songs, whatever, but this star has recently stirred fans in Mexico City with a free open air concert that, of course, promotes his forthcoming album Believe.

More than 200,000 fans, mostly teens and known as ‘Beliebers’, went wild when the 18-year-old singer took the stage with a troupe of dancers, an impressive lights show and his performance on hits such as Baby, Never Say Never and his latest single Boyfriend.

The singer told a news conference ahead of his Mexico City show, “Being 18, I feel like I do have a responsibility to be a good role model. I’m not perfect but at the end of the day, I always want to send a message…. Everybody, no matter being young or old, can always use a positive message; that’s why I named my album Believe.”
