In his request, the DFO had sought help of the administration, stating that outlaws and proclaimed offenders were involved in large-scale cutting of trees in mountainous areas of Tanawal and Agror and they had been using mules for transporting timber to roads and rivers.

Meanwhile, forest management committee has demanded of the government to depute elite force to curb illegal cutting of trees in Tanawal and Agror areas.

Speaking to media persons in Oghi, the committee representatives from Chimyal, including Malik Younus and Alamzeb, said that timber mafia was cutting forests in Karori, Dogha, Chimyal and Janomandi areas.

COLLEGE MAGAZINE: Both public and private sector educational institutions should launch their own monthly literary magazines for developing reading habits of their students besides providing them opportunities to gain knowledge on different subjects.

This was stated by Prof Abdul Qayyum, chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Abbottabad, while speaking at the launching ceremony of ‘Pakhal’ magazine of Jinnah College here on Wednesday.

“It is unfortunate that educational institutions are not taking interest in publishing monthly or quarterly magazines and this practice is keeping students away from getting knowledge and developing reading habits,” he said.

The JC director Fayyaz Ahmad and principal Safia Janis also spoke on the occasion. Prof Qayyum said that Jinnah College was doing a good job and regular publication of ‘Pakhal’ showed its commitment to spreading knowledge.

Mr Ahmad said that ‘Pakhal’ magazine carried English, Urdu and Hindku articles of renowned writers.
