CHARSADDA, June 7: A 14-year-old eighth grade student of a government high school Batgram, Shabqadar, committed suicide here on Thursday after he was bullied at school and home for his lack of interest in studies, police said.

They said that Yaqoob, son of Kaleem, shot himself dead with a pistol at his home after his father, Kaleem, scolded him for not taking interest in his studies. Mr Kaleem told police that his son was unwilling to go to school due to bullying by his class teacher. He said that he would also scold Mr Yaqoob whenever he resisted going to school. Frustrated with the harsh attitude of his father and teacher, Mr Yaqoob went home and shot himself dead with a pistol.

The Batgram police registered a case and have started further investigation.

Meanwhile, a man killed his two brothers and a nephew over a land dispute in Utmanzai here on Thursday. According to police, one Shehryar accompanied by his son Shahi Mulk opened fire on his brothers Mohammad Ayaz and Shah Room and nephews Asfandyar and Ghazan over a land dispute. As a result, Mr Ayaz, his brother Shah Room and son Asfandyar were killed on the spot, while his other son Ghazan received injuries. The alleged assailants escaped after the incident.

Wife of Mr Ayaz later registered an FIR with Utmanzai police against Shehryar and his son Shahi Mulk. —Correspondent
