HYDERABAD, May 17: The Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party has decided to convene ‘Wahdat-i-Sindh’ conference in Karachi on June 10 in response to conspiracies being hatched against integrity of Sindh.

The party’s central committee which met here on Thursday with Dr Qadir Magsi in the chair said that political parties and people of different shades of opinion would be invited to the moot.

The meeting vowed to foil conspiracy of “Mohajir Sooba Tehrik”, impressing upon the fact that Sindhis were very sensitive about their motherland and they would resist the move to divide it.

Dr Magsi said at the meeting that the government’s silence indicated that it was privy to the conspiracy. Sindh chief minister should order immediate removal of graffiti, banners and posters about Mohajir Sooba, he said.

He asked MQM to clarify whether the stand taken by so-called former leaders of MQM at a news conference in New York was their personal opinion or it was the party’s official position. If it was their personal statement then the party should take action against them or clarify its position, he said.

If MQM failed to clarify its position then people would assume that the party was part of the conspiracy against Sindh, he said.

SPLA: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association has demanded the government should ensure immediate recovery of well known neurosurgeon of Hyderabad, Prof Aftab Qureshi.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, SPLA leaders Prof Yaqoob Chandio, Prof Ghazanfar, Prof Tariq Mansoor Qureshi and Prof Khurram Rafi Siddiqui urged Sindh chief minister to ensure the professor’s early recovery.

They also urged Chief Justice of Sindh High Court to ensure implementation of the directives issued by the apex court in its suo motu proceedings into target killings in Karachi.
