ISLAMABAD: Quaid-e-Azam University has been declared as top of Pakistan after an overall performance evaluation by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

A total of 136 public and private universities were evaluated by the Quality Assurance Committee of the HEC on the criteria of research, learning standard and annual examination results.

Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) secured second while Aga Khan University earned the third spot in the national rankings.

Only one university from Balochistan, the country’s largest province, was listed in a separate category-wise ranking, highlighting a dire need for funding and up gradation of education in that region.

AKU is 3rd while LUMS is 10th! What were they thinking when they compiled these?

I do not know, what type of ranking HEC has introduced. This is totally false, QUA do not have faculty in it most of the department. If you do not believe go and visit the website of IT and Computer Science departments. Moreover, there is no practical approach in both departments.

it isn't surprising all top ten is in Punjab with the one exception, and teh AKU is a private one. with due to respect, all Pakistani learning centers need to be financed appropriately/justly.

This is good news for the Pakistan academician but the Quaid-e-Azam University is still far behind the Indian Top Universities. My suggestion is that there should be cooperation and coordination between the Indian IIT's , IIM's and other Indian Universities to made the Quaid-e-Azam University a world class university. This is possible under the umbrealla of SAARC. Pakistan should also go in for one SAARC university on the lines of Delhi SAARC university.

It is high point tthat institutions like CPSP take notice of prevailing standards and come up with a strategy . CPSP should be closely highlighted and monitored. Every year hundreds of postgraduate doctors appear in the FCPS Part 2 exams, but not much is known about evaluation and merit standards there.

QAU is best no doubt but the thing is..students belonging to other Universities instead of giving false comments against the grading system of HEC should realize what are the reasons that there Universities cant compete QAU.
