LAHORE: A decision about former all-rounder Shoaib Malik’s return to the national team is most likely to be announced on Friday as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Integrity Committee meets again here.
Though the case of leg-spinner Danish Kaneria is also to be decided by the integrity committee, the decision on Malik is most likely to be announced on Friday because it is in the final stages.
Sources said as Kenria’s case for clearance on selection is also pending with the Sindh High Court, therefore, it will be not possible for the integrity committee to take any final decision about his clearance just yet.
Malik, on the other hand, has provided all the relevant documents required by the integrity committee and a final decision on his clearance is expected on Friday.
The main hurdle in the way of Malik’s clearance remains his changing stance infront of the integrity committee regarding the suspicious transfer of 90,000 pounds sterling in his London-based bank account.
In the first submission Malik has expressed his ignorance about any such amount being transferred into his account.
However, in his second statement, he has owned it and provided some evidences to prove that it was a legal transaction.
