The photographer recaptures the rich essence of Islamic culture by taking us first to the Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan. It was built in seven years, starting around 1634-1635 AD, during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan.
We then land at the Badshahi Mosque or the 'King's Mosque' in Lahore which is the second largest mosque in Pakistan and South Asia and the fifth largest mosque in the world. – Photos by Uzair Khan/Dawn.com

pre-Islamic heritage?? What's that? Pakistan's heritage starts at the dawn of Islam. We're Muslims, we yearn for the poems of Iqbal and Hafiz. We yearn for Arabic and Turkish melodies and we live by the way of Qur'an.
