QUETTA, June 7: Dozens of women and children on Thursday staged a demonstration outside the Quetta Press Club in protest against the arrest of some women in Tump. They were chanting slogans against the government and in favour of Baloch people who had been killed in the military operation.

The protesters were demanding stopping of military operation in Balochistan, and releasing of arrested people.

Addressing the demonstration, Farida Baloch, Shah Bibi, Farzana Baloch and others condemned the government for using oppressive methods against the Baloch people.

They alleged that the security forces had arrested some women from Tump, adding that police during raids for arresting political workers was harassing their family members.

They asked the courts and the human right organisations to take notice of the violations of the citizens’ fundamental rights. They claimed that about 6000 Baloch youths had either been arrested or missing for the last three years, adding that the government had not produced them to any court of law. —Correspondent
