ISLAMABAD: All commercial activities in the Margalla Hills were prohibited by the capital administration on Wednesday.

Officials from the capital administration and police told Dawn that commercial activities, such as hotels and restaurants, in the hills were sealed in response to an order from Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat.

Mr Shafqaat and other administration officials as well as a police contingent visited commercial centres in the area and sealed them after staff were vacated. These commercial centres include Monal Restaurant, La Montana and Gloria Jeans, they said.

Mr Shafqaat, when contacted, confirmed that all the commercial activities in the hills were sealed and said commercial activities are not permitted there.
