RAWALPINDI: An alleged robber was allegedly shot dead by a policeman in an automated teller machine (ATM) booth on Haider Road while he was trying to snatch cash on Wednesday.

Police said an unidentified man with a pistol entered the ATM booth when ASI Amir was withdrawing cash and threatened to kill him if he did not hand him over the cash. As they were scuffling inside the booth, the ASI pulled out his pistol and shot him dead, they added.

The suspected robber has been identified as Ishfaq Hussain, 28, a resident of Chah Sultan. Police said he was involved in three similar incidents that were reported to the Cantonment police.
