PESHAWAR: The Covid-19 claimed 12 more lives, taking the death toll to 1,099 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

The province also recorded 408 new cases, taking its overall tally of positive patients to 30,486, according to a report released by the health department.

It said the number of patients having recovered reached 21,158 with the addition of 387 more in the last 24 hours.

Of the new deaths, nine occurred in Peshawar, raising the total number of fatalities in the provincial capital to 522, the most in any

istrict. The provincial capital also registered 208 more new patients, taking its total score of confirmed cases to 10,957.

Two persons died of the pandemic in Lower Dir, where number of deaths reached 38. The district also reported 37 new patients, taking its overall scorecard to 1,490.

One person died of virus in Abbottabad, taking the total deaths to 63. It also recorded 22 new patients with total standing at 1,249.

Upper Dir detected 37 more patients with total at 791. The district has also reported deaths of 13 persons so far.

Swat, with 94 deaths so far, reported 16 new patients, taking the total to 2,692.

Fourteen more patients were diagnosed with coronavirus in Malakand, which has so far registered 39 deaths. It has total 1,417 confirmed patients.

Karak reported 13 more patients, taking total score of positive patients to 416. It has registered 15 deaths from the pandemic so far.

Charsadda recorded eight fresh patients, taking their tally to 803. The district has so far reported 14 deaths.
