ISLAMABAD: A woman was found dead at her residence in Shahpur, with a bullet wound on her right temple and a pistol lying next to her.

Preliminary investigation suggested that she was right handed but it is yet to be known whether this is a case of suicide or murder.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Mahnoor. Investigation Officer (IO) Inspector Abdul Sattar told Dawn that the victim’s mother alleged that she was murdered by her husband, while her husband told police that she committed suicide.

The victim’s father told police that there were issues between his daughter and her husband, he added.

The pistol belongs to the victim’s husband but it is still not known whether the weapon is legal or illegal.

The victim’s husband stated that he received a call and was informed about the incident when he was at a snooker club. People at the snooker club confirmed this and said he rushed out afterwards, the IO stated, adding that investigators have asked the suspect to give details of the caller to confirm it too.

Police have registered a murder case in response to the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother and arrested her husband, he stated.
