LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has sacked a doctor and police lodged a criminal case against him after he allegedly raped a woman on the premises of “Governor House”.

The disturbing incident occurred when the woman visited the clinic located on the premises of Governor House where the doctor attended her. She alleged that on finding her alone, the doctor sexually assaulted her. She immediately called the police for help and lodged a complaint against the doctor.

Civil Lines SP Dost Khosa confirmed the incident saying police had registered a criminal case against the doctor. Quoting initial inquiries, he said, the woman who accused the doctor of rape also had criminal record in police. He said it could be the modus operandi of the girl to make allegations on people to blackmail them for some purposes. Record showed, he said, that she had made same allegations on a man in Rahim Yar Khan and some other cities of the province.

When police reached the site for inquiry, the woman refused to give her personal details including her name, address and even the CNIC which created doubt about her complaint, he said. She, however, provided details when police told her that such information was mandatory to lodge complaint against the doctor.

As they got details from the police record, she was found accused in a case lodged against her with the Sundar police station, the SP said. He said police registered a case against the doctor on the complaint of the woman.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Governor House Lahore issued a statement that said Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar had taken stern notice of the case of a woman’s harassment by a doctor of the Governor House.

“The doctor has been sacked immediately from Governor House Lahore,” he said, adding that the Punjab governor also directed the CCPO Lahore to proceed on merit.
