ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has decided to air educational entertainment - also known as edutainment - programmes starting today (Sunday).

The Federal Directorate of Education said on Twitter that a special “Eid transmission on #teleschool from 24 to 27 May 2020” will be full of edutainment programmes.

Students can learn more about the programmes from the ministry’s website.

A ministry official said that since schools are closed during the Eidul Fitr holidays, the ministry has decided to use the time to provide students who are being taught through tele-school with entertainment.

“The programmes will be interesting, due to which we are sure children will prefer to stay home and watch them and our goal of social distancing will also be achieved,” he said.

According to the ministry’s website, the programmes include storytelling, cartoons, informative shows and documentaries. Transmission will begin at 8am and end at 6pm every day.

An educational television channel for students was launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan on April 13 for students to continue to study at home while schools are closed due to the coronavirus.
