LAHORE: As many as 116 more patients tested positive for the virus across the province taking the tally to 2,224.

Of them, 53 each were from quarantine centres of the Tableeghi Jamaat and other people from all over the province while10 were the prisoners.

According to the official figures, the total number of cases from the Tableeghi Jamaat community reached 662 in Punjab including 455 at Raiwind Markaz. Similarly, the total number of prisoners tested positive for the virus in Punjab’s prisons reached 68.

With the emergence of 16 new cases, the tally of confirmed cases in provincial capital was reported 363.

Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid visited two dedicated isolation wards at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences here on Thursday. It was decided that the patients in a critical condition at the Expo Center would be shifted to the isolation ward of the SIMS for better supervision.

SIMS Principal Prof Mehmud Ayaz, medical superintendent Dr Iftikhar Ahmad and other officials gave briefing on the health arrangements.
