QUETTA: An accountability court on Friday sentenced a former executive engineer to three-year imprisonment in a corruption case and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs9.6 million.

Judge of Accountability Court, Quetta, Munnawar Shahwani found Anwar Adeel, the former XEN industries and commerce department, guilty of awarding government contracts illegally to his favourites and receiving bribe.

As per the investigation carried out by the National Accountability Bureau, Balochistan, the convict had received bribe through his front man Khadim Hussain.

The court also awarded one-year imprisonment to Khadim Hussain.

Special Prosecutor Zameer Ahmed Chalgari appeared before the court on behalf of NAB.
