GHALANAI: The security forces with the support of tribesmen have cleared most areas of the Mohmand tribal district of militants and restored peace to the region, says Commander 103 Brigade Brig Abdur Rauf Shahzad.

Speaking at a function in Rehmat Kor area, he said checkposts had been set up at the border areas jointly manned by the tribesmen and the security forces to restrict the movement of militants.

“Biazai subdivision’s Rehmat Kor area bordering Afghanistan has been cleared of militants and mines and the government writ established after successful military operation,” Brig Shahzad said.

He said the sacrifices of security forces and tribesmen had paved the way for restoration of peace. He expressed the confidence that the tribal elders would continue supporting the government efforts for maintaining peace in the district.

He urged all the displaced people to return to their homes without fear. He said at least 76 families had returned to Rehmat Kor nine years after their displacement.

The army officer said work on various development projects continued.

On the occasion, MNA Sajid Khan said thanks to sacrifices of the security forces peace had returned to the area. He said comprehensive development plan would be announced for uplift of the militancy-hit people.
