LANDI KOTAL/KHAR: Four persons, including a child and a woman, were killed and 11 others injured in separate road accidents in Khyber and Bajaur tribal districts on Friday.
Police said that two cars and a pick-up vehicle collided near the Pran Sam checkpost on the Peshawar-Torkham Highway in the vicinity of Jamrud tehsil. Driver of one of the cars and an Afghan child were killed on the spot and seven others were injured.
One of the injured, also an Afghan national, later succumbed to injuries in hospital. The rest of the injured, all Afghan nationals, were shifted to a major hospital in Peshawar owing to their critical condition. The deceased car driver was a resident of Nekikhel area.
Police said the accident occurred due to reckless driving.
Meanwhile, a woman died and five others sustained injuries after a car plunged into a ravine in the hilly Utmankhel tehsil of Bajaur.
Residents and police officials said the car was going to the hilly locality from Khar. It plunged into gorge while taking a sharp turn.
They said all the six inmates on board the car were wounded. However, a woman succumbed to her injuries while being shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Khar.
The condition of the injured was stated to be out of danger.
The names of the dead and wounded could not be indentified immediately. However, they belonged to the same family.
