LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday confirmed interim pre-arrest bail of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s nephew Advocate Hassaan Niazi and nine other lawyers in case of attack at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta also directed the investigating officer to submit on next hearing a report about photogrammetric tests of the suspects.

Shadman police had lodged two FIRs against around 250 lawyers after they stormed the PIC, damaged public property and manhandled government employees.

Mr Niazi had gone into hiding when police made several attempts to arrest him after a video of his actively participating in the attack went viral on mainstream and social media. However, the police remained unsuccessful.

On Dec 20 last, Mr Niazi made a surprise appearance before the court along with his father Hafeezullah Khan Niazi and counsel and secured pre-arrest bail. All lawyers arrested by the police in the PIC attack case had already been released on bail.
