HARIPUR: Following public complaints Haripur deputy commissioner Nadeem Nasir on Wednesday imposed ban on washing of vegetables with sewerage water across the district.

He said he had imposed extendable ban for 60 days under section 144 of CrPC.

Soon after the ban, the deputy commissioner visited different areas of the city and found two farmers in Dheenda village using sewerage water for washing radish, turnip and spinach and got them arrested and sent them to jail under section 188 of CrPC.

Meanwhile, a man was killed and three others injured critically when a car skidded off the road near Chechian Interchange of Hazara Motorway, police said on Wednesday.

Kotnajibullah police said one of the front tyres of the car, going to Islamabad from Abbottabad, burst when the vehicle was crossing the Chechian Interchange on Tuesday night. The car veered off the motorway and crashed against a roadside embankment.

The man on the driving seat, later identified as Sardar Ahmed of Aram Bagh Abbottabad, was killed on the spot, while his three friends were injured.
