KARACHI: A teenage daughter of a member of the Punjab Assembly was found dead in Defence Housing Authority on Sunday, said Gizri police.

They added that the body of 19-year-old Shifa Mumtaz Chand was found in her home situated on Khayaban-i-Rahat, DHA, Phase-VI.

She had been taken to a Clifton hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said that the exact cause of death would be ascertained after her post-mortem examination.

A senior police officer who wished not to be named told Dawn that apparently there was no injury mark on her body as per doctors’ report.

The officer said that the dead was a daughter of MPA of Punjab Assembly Mumtaz Chand.

Her family in Karachi told the police that they would decide whether to allow the police to fulfil legal formalities of autopsy after arrival of her father from Punjab.
