LAHORE: Around 100 PML-N lawmakers resigned from standing committees of the Punjab Assembly in protest against not making Hamza Shahbaz chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and denying his production orders.

“Around 100 party MPAs have submitted their resignations to the assembly secretariat and we will not withdraw them till the PTI government makes Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz PAC chairman and issues his production orders,” PML-N lawmaker Samiullah Khan told Dawn on Thursday.

He claimed that it was for the first time in the Punjab Assembly’s history that such a huge number of lawmakers from opposition resigned from the standing committees.

“After opposition members’ resignations, the standing committees have no democratic standings in their decisions,” he said.
