KOHAT: Three young men were killed when a fight erupted among friends in Malangabad area of Jungle Khel late on Monday night, police said.

The police arrested one person named Usman Shah, while another, Minhajuddin, made good his escape.

The arrested man told police that the deceased were his friends, who were killed by Minhajuddin.

The deceased, Nasir Mohammad, Dilshad Ali and Subhanallah, were sitting in a hujra with their friends, Usman and Minhajuddin, when a fight erupted over some issue. They sprayed bullets at each other which caused instant death to three of them.

The bodies were moved to the KDA teaching hospital where after autopsy they were handed over to relatives. The Jungle Khel police registered a triple murder case against Minhaj on the complaint of Usman Shah, and started searching for the fleeing accused.

Meanwhile, district police officer Wahid Mehmood directed the subordinate officers to prepare files of gang heads of land mafia, drug barons, especially those involved in making and selling of ice to the youth, timber mafia, loan sharks and extortionists, so a crackdown could be launched on them.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting of the circle DSPs and SHOs of all the police stations on Tuesday.

He directed the officers to ensure action on National Action Plan and enforcing writ of the government. He said these mafias should be handled with an iron hand as they had made lives of common man difficult.
