KHAR: Unknown persons on Friday fired a rocket on the house of an Awami National Party leader here, wounding two women, officials and family members said.

They said the rocket was fired on the house of Sheikh Jan Zada in Nawagai locality at about 8am. They said the rocket was fired from unknown location.

The officials said the wounded women were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following the attack, family members along with residents launched a search for the attackers, but they did not find any suspect in the surrounding areas.

Personal of Bajaur Levies and police also visited the house and examined the site where the rocket was landed.

AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives Muhibullah Khan has claimed that the government has approved a comprehensive programme for promotion of agriculture and livestock sectors in the tribal districts in order to improve the living standard of people.

Talking to mediapersons the other day, he said huge funds had been allocated for development of both the sectors. He said establishment of small dams, construction of protection walls, land leveling and putting tubewells on solar power were among the major initiatives being launched in the two sectors.

He added the government would also establish model farming centres and award quality wheat and vegetable seeds and fertilisers at subsidised rates to the farmers.
